NEW VIDEO!

After four months of laborious work, the music video for ‘Lost In America’ has finally wrapped. We just managed to finish it in time for this year’s AIM submission. With a bit of luck, the video should air on Malaysian TV soon, but you might as well watch it here now…

2. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

One of the key challenges of this video was to evoke a sense of lament for the ‘loss’ of the American ideal but without mocking or ‘sneering’ at it. Given the symbolic elements applied in the video, it would have been easy (and lazy) to let the entire thing descend into slapstick – which would have been disrespetful to the subject. But the team did an amazing job in this respect. We now have something that is both dignified and symbolically rich. I am so proud of them.

I’d like to thank Jordan Suleiman (who was also responsible for my ‘Arms Of Marianne’ video some years ago), all the other guys at Voxel (animation and art), Jia Wei (make-up and wardobe), Jeff Yussof (camera) and Tony Pietra (direction – live action). But special thanks must go to all the actors on the video for contributing their talents and artistry so generously – as follows:

CAST Jason Lo [Rambo] Nell Ng [Marilyn Monroe] Serena C [Rocket Girl] Sharifah Amani [Mini Mouse] Gavin Yap [Mickey Mouse] Ismet [Ronald McDonald] Rashid Salleh [Superman] Khai [TV Heads & Cowboys] Patrick Teoh [Uncle Sam & Businessman] Sharifah Aryana [TV Girl] Tony Pietra [Vegas Elvis]

You guys rock.
