BUSAN & TOKYO

I’m at the Busan International Film Festival for Jame Lee’s new film. I’ll also be playing a set at the outdoor stage here on the night of Sunday the 7th. After Busan, I fly to Tokyo and play another show on the 13th. Come if you can.

BUSAN. James Lee’s new flick ‘Waiting For Love’ [Trailer] is getting its world premier at the Busan International Film Festival this year [Website]. The festival is also initiating a new program to encourage cross-border collaboration between actors and filmmakers in the Asian region – something entitled ‘Pacific Asia Actors Network’ – so they invited me to attend that as well. Then word came a week before I flew here that I’d be playing a 30 minutes set at the outdoor stage in the festival village on Sunday night. Due to the short notice, I am not able to bring my band – so it’ll be a solo set. Should be damn fun though.

Busan Details:

Venue: PIFF Village OUTDOOR STAGE
Date: Sunday Night 7th October 2007
Time: 9.30pm
Admissions: Free

NOTE: After the gig, walk down to the PIFF PAVILION and join the entire Malaysian contingent at the Malaysia Party. Yasmin Ahmad, Ho Yuhang, James Lee and many others will be there. Free food and drinks. And lots of Malaysian indie bravura.

TOKYO. Since my flight to Busan transits at Tokyo’s Narita airport anyway, I thought I’d stopover in Tokyo after Busan for a little low key gig. In fact, it’ll be so cosy and intimate to call it a gig may get me sued for misrepresentation. Put simply, it’s a ‘meet and get very drunk with friends’ session at my favourite Japanese salaryman’s bar in Tokyo. We’ll hook up some rudimentary sound system in the bar [which does not normally accomodate music shows], invite as many friends and supporters as it is humanly possible to fit into the [small] premises, then stick a mic in front of my face to stop me from drinking too much. This will be such a blast. Come join us!
