LIVE ON KOREAN TV

I will be playing 2 of the biggest live music TV shows in Korea in early August. I’ll be backed by Melina William and Justin Lim in a stripped down ‘unplugged’ line-up. Please catch the shows if you are in Korea!

The two TV shows I’ll be playing on are:

1. LOVE LETTER

This is the most popular live music entertainment and chat show in Korea. Hosted by Yoon Do Hyun [rock icon and front man of the rock band YB], millions of Koreans watch this show live on nationwide KBS TV every week. Those of you accustomed to thinking of studio audience in hundreds of people will be in for a massive cultural shock. This show is played out every week in front of a live studio audience of thousands – like a stadium concert. Check out the vibe when my friends from the band ‘Jaurim’ played the show last year…

Anyway, I’ll been invited to play a 10 minute set on the show on the 5th of August. If I am not mistaken, the show goes on at 7.30pm. Woo.

2. EBS SPACE

EBS Space is one of the coolest music programs on Korean TV. It takes place at in a live house in front of an audience of a few hundred people. The show is recorded and broadcasted later to a nationwide audience. Unlike Love Letter, which tend to concentrate on mainstream K-pop acts, EBS Space is known for inviting a huge variety of acts from different genre to play on it. These can range from foreign jazz [Bob James] and pop [Jason Mraz] musicians to homegrown ska and metal acts. Below is when Jason Mraz played it with his percussionist:

I’ll be playing two 60-70 minutes shows on EBS Space – on the 7th and 8th of August. Come if you can get tickets!! More information available on the show’s website HERE.

3. OTHERS

While I am in Seoul, I’ll be doing radio and magazine interviews too. So don’t be too surprised to hear me mumbling away on Korean radio in August.

Other than this, those who happen to be in Busan in the first week of August might want to catch our very own Tempered Mental [fronted by Melina William] at the Busan International Rock Festival. They’ll be playing on the 2nd of August. This is the same festival that I played last year and had a blast. More info on the festival and this year’s line-up HERE.
